Eco-Friendly Yards

Contrary to popular belief, artificial grass is quite environmentally friendly. It doesn't need any pesticides or herbicides to stay fresh and green, it doesn't produce any carbon emissions from mowing, and it doesn't need any fertilizer, meaning there's no risk of runoff from synthetic grass damaging our local ecosystems.

Learn About Turf

  • What should I know before getting turf installed?
Installing artificial turf grass is a lot like laying carpet. Artificial turf works best on a flat, compacted, well-draining substrate. Choose Turf and Infill based on the expected use. Kill existing grass safely. Prepare a solid substrate. Call Delaturf for a FREE consultation.
  • What maintenance is required for artificial turf?
When your artificial turf is initially laid, you should wait 8-12 weeks before brushing in order to let the sand and turf settle properly. Once the turf is fully settled you can begin brushing every 3-4 weeks to keep the blades upright. Brush gently in different directions and patterns to achieve a perky, lush lawn.
  • What time of year should I install artificial turf?
Generally speaking, an ideal time to have artificial turf installed would be during the fall season. Having artificial turf installed in preparation for the spring and summer months is a great idea.
  • Can weeds grow through artificial turf?
Although artificial grass has a higher resistance to weeds than natural turf, it's still possible for weeds to grow around the edges or infrequently through small holes in the backing. Weeds can also grow through the infill, depending on the type of infill that has been used during the installation.
  • How long does artificial turf last?
A perk of artificial turf is its longevity. With average use and maintenance, you can expect to enjoy your synthetic grass for at least 20 years, a worthwhile investment that essentially pays for itself in half that time.
