Artificial turf works well for many backyard games because the surface stays relatively level and doesn't develop the muddy patches or worn paths associated with natural grass. Cornhole, bocce, soccer, Spikeball, ring toss and many other games can be played on synthetic turf, although games that require driving stakes deeply into the ground need extra consideration.
